Installation Quick Reference:

The following is a brief document that describes the
installation process and the game requirements. For more
detailed information, please see the appropriate sections
in the manual.

Installation Options:

There are three possible installation methods that are
available. You can install all of the recommended files,
perform a maximum installation or decide to simply play
the game off the CD-ROM (without installing).

In order to play off the CD-ROM (no installation), you
only need to enter the install program and select your
language, then exit to DOS and type 'FIFA96' at the prompt.
This will actually create a working directory on your hard
drive 'C:\FIFA96' into which it copies your current settings.

Although you have the option in playing the game off the
CD-ROM, it is suggested that certain files be copied to
the local hard drive so that the game may run smoothly
and quickly. Select the 'Install to Hard Drive' option
in the main menu, then click on the type of installation
that you would like. Depending on the amount of free space
that is available, you may decide on either a Recommended
install or a Maximum install. If a particular install
requires more disk space than is available on the selected
drive, it will appear in red. It should be noted that if
you are using file compression software, or are installing
over a previous install, there may be enough drive space
for a particular installation, as the file sizes will be
incorrect.

Upon entering the install screen, a default path for
the installation will be selected for you. You can then
type in a different path if you like. However, it is
important that the path be valid. You can have a maximum
of eight characters in a directory name, with at most
three characters for the extension. If the directory that
you choose does not exist, it will create one for you. However,
at most only one directory will be created. For example, if
you decide to install to 'C:\GAMES\FIFA96' but no GAMES
directory exists, you will get an error message.

Sound Card Options:

The first time that you enter the installation program,
your sound card is autodetected and highlighted in yellow. This
should be correct for almost all sound cards. However, if the
sound does not appear to be working correctly, you may choose to
select another sound card. This would probably indicate a problem
with your current environment variable settings. A button at the
bottom of the screen allows you to test the current selection.

Game Requirements:

FIFA Soccer '96 requires a local bus video card, VESA
SVGA compatible, capable of 640x480 resolution with 256 colors.
The minimum memory requirements are 300 Kb of conventional RAM
and 7,500 Kb of extended memory.
